This is a typical example of the old “dying widow scam.” The scammer, using the name “Vivian Rorent,” says he has inherited a fortune but is dying of cancer and has no one to bequeath it to. Would you help by distributing the money to worthy orphans? Alas, it’s just one more example of the old-fashioned advance fee fraud that’s been around for many years.

Before his death we were both born again Christian. Since his death I decided not to remarry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is against.

When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of $4.5 Million in a bank.

Recently, my DOCTOR told me that I would not last for the next Eight months due to cancer problem. Having known my condition I decided to donate this fund to a Orphanage or good Christian that will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here in.

I want a Church organization or good person that will use this fund for orphanages, widows, propagating the word of God and to endeavor that the house of God is maintained.

l took this decision because I don’t have any child that will inherit this money and my husband relatives are not Christians not even good at all because they are the one that killed my husband in other to have all my late husband properties and I don’t want my husband’s efforts to be used by unbelievers. I don’t want a situation where this money will be used in an ungodly way.

This is why I am taking this decision. I am not afraid of death hence I know where I am going. I know that I am going to be in the bosom of the Lord.Exodus 14 VS 14 says that “the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my peace”. With God all things are possible.

As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the Bank . I will also issue you an authority letter that will prove you the present beneficiary of this fund. I want you to always pray for me because the lord is my shepherd.

My happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that Wants to serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and Truth. Please always be prayerful all through your life.

This is a typical example of a “dying millionaire scam.” Poor Vivian Dikko (or rather rich Vivian Dikko) is dying of cancer, and she needs your help in giving away her fortune to needy orphans. Who wouldn’t want to help needy orphans? Unfortunately, “Vivian” isn’t a dying millionaire — she (if indeed she’s a she) is just another email scammer trying to pick your pocket.

This is a classic example of the old “dying widow scam” complete with all the trimmings: a rich late husband, poor orphans, a few weeks to live, and Biblical invocations. (See more examples of dying widow scams.) This example is better written than most, and because it isn’t in broken English it just may trick a few people — don’t fall into the trap!

This is a classic example of the “dying widow scam.” (See more examples of scams from supposed dying widows.) “Mrs. Rita Dominic” is dying of cancer and wants to give away the fortune that her late husband left her. Won’t you help? She is your sister in Christ, after all.

In fact, “Mrs. Rita” is just a scammer trying to pick your pocket. “She” (if the message actually came from a she) isn’t a dying widow and there is no fortune deposited in an African bank. Please share this scam warning with your friends and family today so they won’t get scammed by “Mrs. Rita.”

This curious scam message combines a whole range of traditional scammer themes. “Tom Crist” has won a lottery, his wife was dying of cancer, and as a religious man he wants to share his wealth with you. Alas, it’s just another version of the old fashioned advance-fee fraud, designed not to spread his fortune but to grow it by picking your pocket.

Alas, there is really no “Teresa Roman” and no fortune to be distributed. There’s only a scammer trying to separate you from your money.

This is a classic example of the “dying widow scam.” A wealthy foreign businessman died and left his widow a fortune. She is now dying, and needs someone to dispose of her estate. Wouldn’t you like to help? She can give you a percentage of the money if you like. She’s a Christian, so you know you can trust her. Alas, it’s a scam from beginning to end: there’s no wealthy businessman and no dying widow. If you respond to the message she’ll be delighted to hear from you, and say she only needs you to send the banker’s fees to finalize the money transfer. Once she’s got those “fees” in her hand, you’ll never hear from her again.

The Dying Widow Cancer Scam

One of the most common types of advance fee frauds is the “widow dying of cancer” scam, and the format of the message below is typical. “Mrs. Nadia Edward” was married to a wealthy man who is now dead, and they have no children. “Mrs. Nadia” is herself now dying of cancer, and she needs help giving away her millions. She is a very religious person, so you know you can trust her. (These messages almost always include a religious component.) If you offer to assist her, she’ll tell you that you only need to send a small amount of cash to her so the funds can be released from the bank (maybe to bribe the corrupt bank officials), and then the millions will be on their way. Alas, if you go along, you’ll lose this “advance fee” and never hear from “Mrs. Nadia” again.

Nora Becky and Her Cancer (scam alert)

This scam message is unusual in that it arrived with an attachment. Most email users know not to open unfamiliar attachments as they may contain computer viruses, but the scammer here perhaps thought the ability to format the message as though it were an actual letter was worth the chance.

In its content, this is a standard “dying woman” scam: a wealthy widow dying of cancer, who is a devout Christian, needs your help to give away her fortune to charity. Alas, there’s really no dying widow and no money on deposit. There’s just a scammer trying to pick your pocket.

The initial email text reads:

We were married for thirty-seven years without a child. He died during one of the war in Iran. He was held hostage and slain to death by protesting youths of the region.

Before his death we were both devoted Christians. Since his death I decided not to re-marry. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum USD$8,000,000.00 (Eight Million U.S. Dollars) with a Security Company in South Africa. Presently, this money is still with the Security Company and the management just wrote me as the beneficiary to come forward to receive the money or rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf if I can not come over.

Presently, I’m with my laptop in a hospital where I have been undergoing treatment for cancer of the lungs. I have since lost my ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only less than (2) two months to live.

It is my last wish to see that this money is invested wisely and at the end of every year funds are distributed among charity organization. I want a reliable and honest person that will use this money to reach to the motherless and also less privileges, to reach to the Katrina Hurricane, the sick that has no body to take care of them, the poor and widows and to set up a Cancer research.
